LGV & PCV License Training, Inverness & North of Scotland

Steps to getting your LGV/PCV licence:
1 Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence. Obtaining your LGV license or PCV License in Inverness and the North of Scotland
2 Fill out our online enquiry page and request a Vocational Licence pack be sent out. This pack includes the Form D2 (LGV/PCV licence application form) and Form D4 (medical form) and a pre-addressed envelope to the DVLA.
3 Medical - Contact your local GP to arrange a medical or if you live in the Inverness area contact our office and we can arrange a medical with a local company. You must take medical form D4 with you to your appointment.
4 LGV/PCV Provisional – Fill out form D2. When applying for a provisional make sure you tick the correct category, C1 (7.5t), C (class 2), D1 (minibus) or D (bus). Place the completed D2 & D4 forms along with both parts of your licence in to the pre-addressed envelope and send to the DVLA.
5 When you licence returns contact us to arrange you theory tests (LGV for lorry and PCV for bus), hazard perception, multiple choice and *CPC mod 2 or alternatively contact the DSA on 0300 200 11 22 or online at www.dft.gov.uk/dsa to arrange them yourself.
6 Once you have successfully passed the theory tests call us to arrange your LGV/PCV and *CPC mod 4 training with M.D. Fiddes Training.

* As of Sept 09 any trainee that doesn't have acquired rights pre 1997 is now required by law to take an initial CPC. Module 2 (Case studies) and Module 4 (Practical demonstration test). You must pass module 2 before taking your practical test.

If you already held the LGV licence prior to 1997 you are required by law to sit 35 hours of periodic training by Sept 9th 2014 to drive vehicles for pay and reward. Once you have completed this you will be issued with a DQC card valid until Sept 09 2019 and it must be carried with you at all times. We can supply the initial CPC training as well as periodic training towards your DQC card. Contact our office for details of courses available.
